Public Opinion Strategies (R) IN-05 Poll conducted 1/20-1/21 of 300 Republican LVs:
Rep. Dan Burton 43%
Fmr. State Rep. Luke Messer 9%
Fmr. Congressional Aide Brose McVey 8%
Fmr. Marion County Commissioner John McGoff 8%
State Rep. Mike Murphy 4%
Teacher Andy Lyons 2%
Burton is the 14-term incumbent in this heavily Republican district north of Indianapolis, but doesn't seem to be as popular as one would figure for a district like this. In 2008, Burton only had one challenger of significane in McGoff, who lost by only 52%-45%. The good news for Burton is that close call seems to have enticed several credible Republicans to get into the race, and now they seem to be splitting the anti-Burton vote. Regardless, this will be an easy hold for the Republicans in November. The Primary is on May 4th.
OVERWHELMING ADVANTAGE FOR THE REPUBLICANS.
