Tarrance Group (R) Arizona Poll conducted 12/8-12/10 of 600 Republican LVs:
Sen. John McCain 56%
Fmr. Rep. J.D. Hayworth 36%
Caveat: Tarrance Group is a Republican pollster, and the poll appears to have been commissioned by a group that backs McCain. The timing of this release looks to be anything but a coincidence: Rasmussen had their poll showing a virtual tie last month, and Hayworth is said to be seriously considering a run. Hayworth is anything but shy about getting his name out there, and if he ran I think he could raise the money he needs to very quickly. He certainly wouldn't be as strong of a General Election candidate as McCain, but so far the Democrats don't have a legitimate candidate in the race.
