PPP Ohio: McCain Catches Obama

Public Policy Polling Ohio Poll conducted 8/12-8/14 of 950 LVs, pdf here:

McCain 45%
Obama 45%

This poll is significant because PPP has consistently shown the best results for Obama in Ohio; with these results the last 3 polls in Ohio average out to a bit less than a 3 point lead for McCain. Muich of the movement here has to do with party ID-last month the Democrats had a 13 point edge in party registration, but PPP pegs it only 7 this month, which looks closer to the mark (it was +4 for the Democrats in 2006). McCain also has upped his percentage among Republicans from 83% to a solid 89%, and he also picks up 17% of Democrats from Obama; however Obama has widened his lead among Independents. One bit of good news for McCain is the composition of the block of undecided voters: only 2% of black voters are undecided, while 12% of the white vote is still up for grabs.

Slight Obama►SLIGHT ADVANTAGE FOR McCAIN.
