POS (R) FL-13: Buchanan With Comfortable Lead

Public Opinion Strategies (R) FL-13 Poll conducted of 400 LVs:

Rep. Vern Buchanan (R) 48%
Banker Christine Jennings (D) 30%

Caveat: this poll was conducted for Buchanan's campaign. This race was razor-close in 2006, as Buchanan and Jennings battled for this Sarasota-area seat that Katherine Harris vacated to run for the Senate. Ultimately, after ample controversy, Buchanan was certified as the winner by just over 300 votes. Indications are that the race might not be as close this time, as Buchanan's polls have shown him well ahead (take them with a grain of salt, though) and Buchanan, a former car dealership owner, has ample resources to spend. Another problem for Jennings: left-leaning Independent Jan Schneider pulls 6% of the vote in this poll.

SIGNIFICANT ADVANTAGE FOR BUCHANAN.

Though this poll does look good for Buchanan, it doesn't follow that he truly has the advantage here. Both local and national press have really started to pick up on the lawsuits from former employees about ripping off consumers and campaign donation kickbacks, and as more voters become aware of these issues, it seems more and more unlikely that Buchanan will see a second term.

Buchanan will win by a landslide.
Whenever I see a dem. smear commercial i rejoice -
more good money thrown after bad money.
A sore loser now showing poor judgement - does she not know that voters abhor negativity?
