SUSA Ohio: Narrow Lead For Obama

SurveyUSA Ohio Poll conducted 6/20-6/22 of 580 LVs:

Obama 48%
McCain 46%

Good for Obama that he leads in the state that decided the election in 2004, but this is a big improvement for McCain from May, when he trailed by 9. Obama turned out huge numbers of new voters, especially young voters, in the primary-he needs that again in November, as he leads 63%-30% among voters 18-34; older age groups back McCain. Obama loses 20% of Democrats to McCain, a big number, but is able to hang on due to a 45%-39% lead among Independents. Call it the "bitter" divide: voters who regularly attend church service, 47% of the sample, back McCain 60%-34%, while those who don't, 53% of the sample, back Obama 60%-33%.

SLIGHT ADVANTAGE FOR OBAMA.
