Just like his brother Lincoln in the next-door 21st district, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R) hasn't faced serious opposition since he was first elected. But for the same demographics reasons Lincoln is a target, Mario is increasingly on the Democrats' radar screen. Just like in the 21st, the Democrats recruited a candidate with the ability to raise money, as Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chair Joe Garcia pulled in almost half a million dollars in the second quarter. Garcia now has only about a 3:2 financial disadvantage at this point, and he actually outraised Diaz-Balart in the Q2 by over $100K.
