Civitas Institute North Carolina Poll conducted 6/11-6/13 of 600 RVs, pdf here:
Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue (D) 43%
Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory (R) 41%
This race, where the incumbent Gov. Mike Easley (D) is term-limited is probably on its way to being the most competitive Governor's race this year, with recent polls showing Perdue ahead by very narrow margins. Both candidates are very popular in their home areas, with Perdue leading 57%-22% in Northeastern NC and McCrory carrying metro Charlotte 61%-26%. Fundraising becomes criticial here-whoever can raise their name ID in the other half of the state better will probably have the upper hand in this race.
SLIGHT ADVANTAGE FOR PERDUE.
