California's Secretary of State site is excellent; the link to the 2008 House Primary Results is here.
CA-04: The big race of the night in California was the Republican primary between conservative State Sen. Tom McClintock and moderate former Rep. Doug Ose. But McClintock wound up winning fairly easily, 54%-39%, despite Ose spending heavily from his own pockets. Democrat Charlie Brown, a retired Air Force Officer, came within 49%-46% in 2006 of defeating Jack Abramoff-connected Rep. John Doolittle. But with Doolittle's retirement and the heavily Republican nature of this district, Brown has a much tougher climb this time. STRONG ADVANTAGE FOR McCLINTOCK.
CA-11: Both candidates were unopposed in the primary here: incumbent Rep. Jerry McNerney (D) and former Assemblyman Dean Andal (R). There are a lot of reasons for GOP optimism here: McNerney's win in 2006 was largely due to the ethical issues surrounding Rep. Richard Pombo, the district leans Republican, and Andal actually won slightly more votes in the primary on Tuesday than McNerney did in his. But the problem for Andal has been fundraising, as he pulled in just $90K in the first quarter. SIGNIFICANT ADVANTAGE FOR McNERNEY.
CA-26: Republian Congressman David Dreier has represented this district north of Los Angeles for 28 years, but his margins in the last few elections have not been overwhelming. He was held to a fairly modest 74%-26% over a token primary challenger on Tuesday, while his 2006 opponent, Russ Warner, won the Democratic Primary 70%-30%. No doubt this is one of the longer shots for the Democrats this year, given Dreier's 57%-38% win here in 2006, but another big Democratic wave could put this seat in play. STRONG ADVANTAGE FOR DREIER.
CA-52: Longtime Rep. and longshot former Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter (R) is retiring, and his safely Republican seat based in the San Diego suburbs is not expected to be competitive this year, even though it's open. His son and namesake, businessman and Iraq War Vet. Duncan D. Hunter, ran through the Republican Primary with 72% of the vote. He will face retired Navy Officer Mike Lumpkin, who won the Democratic Primary 58%-42%. OVERWHELMING ADVANTAGE FOR HUNTER.
